Melio is a business payments platform that simplifies both accounts payable and accounts receivable for small businesses, with a pricing model that makes ACH payments completely free. On the payable side, Melio allows businesses to pay vendors and suppliers via bank transfer or card — even if the vendor only accepts checks — by converting card payments to paper checks automatically. This flexibility lets businesses earn card rewards on expenses regardless of vendor preferences. On the receivable side, Melio enables businesses to send payment requests and invoices to customers with ACH payment links. The QuickBooks Online integration syncs bills and payments bidirectionally, reducing double-entry. The platform also connects to Xero and FreshBooks. A scheduling feature allows payment dates to be set in advance, optimizing cash flow by delaying outgoing payments to the last responsible moment. Melio's approval workflows route payment requests through configurable approval chains before execution. International payments support transfers to over 100 countries. The platform is particularly popular among contractors, retail shops, and professional service firms that process regular B2B payments. The combination of a clean interface, free ACH, and card flexibility makes Melio a compelling alternative to traditional check-writing for businesses managing vendor payment workflows manually.
